As far as peeling, yeah, there are all sorts of backdoor draws and such that you can profitably pay a bet to see the turn. The size of the pot is key here. I agree, you'd rather hit a king than an ace, but if that ace comes on the turn and you bet and get raised, you can hope the board pairs on the river. Again, the size of the pot and the flop action dictates how you play here. Check the missed flops. Bet-threebet or check-raise the good ones.
