As I recall, you didn't muck a winner -- you showed a winner
that the dealer failed to properly acknowledge your winner. It's
really frustrating when the dealer makes mistakes, and when we play
O/8 at Greg's, it's a bit too common. Cards speak, after all, but the
dealer has to give them their voice; it's her job.
As for the hand in question, I think that Name Caller had mucked an
emergency low holding that would have assured him half the pot. There
was a low possible but I unfortunately had none. I'll write more
about the hand in a later entry, but it suffices to say I thought Ken
was pushing a low, and I had a mediocre high holding that I was trying
to promote. Unfortunately, despite picking up more outs on the turn,
I couldn't even beat the two pair that Ken had flopped; his full house
on the river was gratuitous. I wanted the table to think that Ken had
rivered me, which is why I really wanted to muck.
