So often, it's hard to keep the computer geek world of my job and my poker life separate. Although it's more in my own head than usual, I was struck by a book title I saw. I stopped at the bookstore to browse for an actually good book on LDAP (jury still out on this one), and browsed past a book called Ship It! right there in the middle of the computer section!

I had completely forgotten this phrase was in somewhat common used in software. For my career, I have always worked on either internal projects, which never “ship” in that sense, or on Open Source and Free Software projects which effectively “constantly ship”. I am somewhat surprised that [livejournal.com profile] nick_marden, who has spent most of his career in the commercial software business, has never pointed out this congruency of jargon.
