I am just getting to the point where I am trying to understand what differentiates break-even players (me) from winning players, and I have slowly been circling around exactly the conclusions that you write here. It's funny how long it can take a dunce (me) to figure this stuff out - I have been playing for almost two years.
It would be an interesting follow-on post to talk about how you judge when a pre-flop or post-flop situation is right for stealing.
