Won $708 at Foxwoods

I have a lot to write about my trip to Foxwoods yesterday. The short story is that I played NL HE $1/$2 Blind ($100 MAX), $5/$10 HE (with full kill), and $5/$10 O/8 (with full kill). I cleared $708 for the day after expenses, which includes a $15 win for the gratis Keno tickets they give you for buying a bus ticket. I took some hand written notes that I have to work up into entries, and I must admit that some of winnings are due to lucky turn cards and not necessarily solid play, but there were some good plays and bad to write about. I'll write an entry about it in the next few days.

Tonight, I am off to Greg's game, which will be NL HE with $1/$2 blinds and a $140 buy-in (the buy-in increases to "half the largest stack" once the largest stack is $300 or more). Nick will be there, which should make it particularly fun.

Excellent idea! I'm new to poker and welcome reading about the experiences of someone more experienced.

A couple of suggestions (yes, I know a newbie making suggestions is kinda presumptuous...): first, is there a dictionary/list of poker abbrevs/slang? Second, a general rundown of your play is good, but I'd also like to see the history of particular hands/incidents. Specifics can come in very handy.

Third, since poker is less luck than skill/mental attitude, I'd like to hear about that aspect of your game as well: how do you keep yourself from going on tilt? How do you stop yourself if you start on tilt? How important is playing regularly? Differences between online and in person play? Can you still play according to classic poker strategy if no on else at the table does?
