Sitting beside said person, I had a good point of observation for what happened.

I think that your idea that he was suffering from 'poker stress' is correct. I think that he was 1) playing above the comfort zone money-wise, and 2) intimidated by the (extremely in some cases) loose aggressive play that many of us were exhibiting, (hence he played weak tight).

He may have been thinking that you had him beat, layed down to you, then got p'od when you layed down to Ken in the end. He probably wanted to see what you held that caused you to raise him out of the pot that he may have won in the end.
I'll wager that he would have beat Ken, and that's what steamed him - he laid down to you, and you ended up laying down to Ken, costing him (in his mind) the pot.
When someone is playing above their head, frustration at laying down an eventual winner can get pretty high.
He was out of line with the name calling, that surprised the hell out of me.
I'd sat beside him all game, and he'd been pleasant - even pointing out in a helpful way that I'd mucked a winner in a round of Omaha (I was out-to-lunch sick and shouldn't even have been playing anything that required mental skills on Thursday).

People do odd things when they're stressed.
