That's pretty much the extent of the answer I was looking for.

The reason I ask is that with this post in conjunction with your ability to make reads in your other posts seems leaps beyond what I find myself doing. I've been playing for about a year and a half now, starting out with play money online, and this week has marked the one year anniversary of the weekly $5 tournament game that I've organized with friends from work. Since November I've been playing online and started getting into various low stakes home games in the MD/VA area.

It's just that I've been playing poker with pretty much the same group of people for a year now and still have trouble putting people on hands. I hoping this is a skill I will develop, I'm just not sure how to work on it. I seem to bet with my gut feeling. It seems to be right most of them time, when I know I'm beat I usually am. There's never usually anything I'm aware of, maybe subconsiously I'm picking up tells or putting people on hands.

I think I just have to start making a habit of stopping and thinking to myself what hands everyone can have. My problem is that I tend make the mistake of saying, "If I were in their spot, I'd make that move with X..."
