Fixed the DotCom reference. Meanwhile, my prediction was right. The low-stakes player who hasn't studied the game carefully and kept up with advances is in a tough spot now. The games and ability to earn is of course better than it was in, say, 1988-1998, but it's nowhere near what it was in 2002.
This is, in fact, similar to the DotCom analogy I made originally. Of course Internet-related companies make more money than they did in 1988-1998, but they sure as heck aren't getting VC funded left and right from 2002-2009 like they were in 1999-2002!
